| We Are Gathered Here Today |

Written for the occasion of my sister Robin's wedding, this piece is essentially a fantasy with a folkloric and romantic flavor. I wanted to write something with a traditional sound that would take a basic theme through many of the thoughts and emotions that anyone involved in or attending a wedding might experience. The basic theme rises, falls, and then brings us through the timeless and universal sentiments of anticipation, excitement, and joy. Ceremony and tradition intertwine as we explore the boundless hope of love, the optimism of a new beginning, and the wistfulness of our memories and dreams. |
