With a unique style.........

ombining the worlds
of classical, jazz, and traditional music, Anthony Catalano's compositions obscure musical boundaries and defy artistic stereotypes. "It is difficult to explain, but I want to paint with music, as if each note I write is a stroke of the brush. Sometimes large and fantastic landscapes full of color, other times angular and abstract portraits. Sometimes small impressionist daydreams bathed in light."
A recipient of the George Eastman Grant and the Howard Hanson Scholarship, Anthony holds a Master's degree from the Eastman School of Music, widely recognized as one of the leading institutions for music study in the world.
Anthony's compositions has been performed throughout the U.S. "Though I have studied the teachings and music of some incredibly talented artists, I have also learned to become my own teacher. I want to constantly grow and challenge myself through experimentation and self-analysis. In this way I am free to push the limits of my imagination."
Anthony also produces and engineers his own recordings, which have been broadcast on the internet and on traditional radio in the U.S. and Europe. "I have really come to love and respect recording as an art in itself. If my compositions paint a picture, then my recordings should create an atmosphere for those visions. The listener should be intrigued by the sound. I don't want you to just listen to the music, I want to take you somewhere else and inspire your imagination."
A scholar of Guitar History, Anthony's article on Spanish baroque guitar literature, La Guitarra Española, has been featured in Soundboard, a periodical of the Guitar Foundation of America, whom previously published his guitar arrangement of a Vénitienne for harpsichord by Rameau.
The Introduction from Anthony’s Introduction & Fanfare for Orchestra was recently performed at the Fresno New Music Festival In Fresno, California and his own recording of his composition Worried for Nothing was recently featured in the FrammentAzioni project in Udine, Italy. Anthony is currently busy creating a film score for the documentary Lady of the Lake by filmmaker Michael Bartolotta.

The scores for Anthony's compositions are available directly from the composer. If you are interested in these scores or in commissioning a new composition for solo instrument, chamber group, orchestra, or film, please contact Anthony at contact@anthonycatalano.com
