Home was my first serious attempt at composing for the guitar. I was quite pleased with the result and thus began what has been an utterly fascinating and ultimately challenging creative journey.

    The music was not inspired by one particular location, but rather by the notion or idea of home. That idea could be represented by the place we are living now, memories of a home once shared, or our hopes and dreams for a home that awaits us. The piece utilizes two motives, both heard right at the beginning and each outlining a minor seventh chord. These two musical ideas develop, transform, and intertwine like streams of thoughts, images, and emotions. This piece is dedicated to my family and friends; past, present, and future. It is only within the shelter of love shared that we can truly know our home.
